Hey everyone and happy late July! Today's blog post is all about our awesome seniors! Since fall is coming of many kid's senior year, I wanted to share an informative blog post about my senior sessions and what I recommend bringing to them. As an Orange County Senior photographer, I've photographed many amazing kids over the years, and every time I do I am honestly so blown away by how mature, kind and smart these students are.
Without further ado, here are the top things I always recommend bringing to your senior session!
Most of my seniors bring anywhere from 1-4 different outfits. I have a portable changing room I bring with me to my sessions where you'll have privacy to change, no matter where your session is. I recommend a combination of the following:
Something casual: This is an outfit you can be comfy in, since often I'll photograph you sitting or even laying on the ground, which adds a cool texture and dimension to your photos. However, this is not something want to do in a fancy dress or short skirt! Make sure it's an outfit that's cool, comfortable and reflects your sense of (school) style.
Something dressy! Your graduation is one of the most important times in your life, and many of my clients like to dress up to mark the occasion! From floaty dresses to suits and ties, this is the one time to really do it up and go big!
Your cap and gown! These are after all, your graduation photos :-). Since many schools don't give out caps and gowns until close to graduation, many clients choose to purchase an inexpensive set on Amazon or elsewhere to use for their photos, which also leaves your official cap and gown pristine for your ceremony!
Your Letterman jacket, school logo, or sports uniform. Since your session is all about you, bring the things you love to do! Sports are a huge part of many student's lives, and you should be proud of the amount of work and effort you've put in to be at the top of your game. So let's capture it!
Spirit wear from your college! You've done the hard part and gotten accepted into your upcoming school, so be loud and proud of it! Show off that hard work by incorporating your college into your photos.
These can include fun momentos from your childhood or other personal interests. Do you play a musical instrument? Are you an amazing artist? If it's something you do or love, bring it! As a bonus, parents get to look back on all the things you've loved to do, all captured in a timeless photo.
They are part of family of course, and many of my seniors choose to have a few photos with their favorite furry friends. If you wish to bring your pet with you, please let me know ahead of time, as not all locations in Orange County allow pets.
From a cool scarf, to your favorite hat, to those shades your love to wear, to those awesome bracelets you have, let your sense of style show! We'll also discuss which of my fun accessories to bring (I have benches, ladders, glitter, flowers, balloons, lanterns and more!) which add a fun dose of personality to your session.
Last but certainly not least! My senior sessions are unique in the sense that I always include a family portrait if you wish during your session. This is not only a huge milestone for you, but for your parents as well! It marks the last time you'll be a child (to them at least!) and there is better way to capture that last bit of your childhood than with a family portrait.
