Hello and Happy not Monday (i.e happy Tuesday) friends! A long time ago I did a post on beautiful locations we have available within the OC for photo sessions, and seeing I've added a large amount of new ones, I figured it was time to update that post :-). As an Orange County family photographer, I'm so lucky to have such a wide variety of locations to offer my clients - we truly have it all here! From parks to lakes to flowers to sand, Orange County is seriously varied in the types of locations it offers. If you are trying to find a spot for our photo session, you've come to the right place! Many of these locations also offer more than one "look", offering more variety to your session. Of course, if there is a spot you love that I don't offer, let me know! I'm always on the hunt for more amazing locations. Without further ado, here is a look at the types of locations we have here.
Flower garden - one of my absolute favorite spots, there is a reason it's first on the list! It's perfect for all types of sessions, but it's my go to for couture fine art sessions as well as high school senior sessions. The warm colors of the blooms, the perfect light - it's just perfection all wrapped up.
Water (lakes and ponds) - Oh water, how I love thee. Bringing either beautiful reflections, or glittering light water always adds a special touch to images. There are so many beautiful water sources in our area that just add that special something to images.
Grassy Fields - One of the dreamiest types of locations, there is nothing more dreamy than tall warm colored grass swaying in the breeze. Our grasses here change during the year, being a vibrant green in the winter and early spring, then changing to a warm gold during the summer and fall months. They are gorgeous no matter what color they are, and you can pick the time of year that vibes best with what you'd like to wear during your session!
Wide Open Spaces (Grass or Dirt) - These spaces are perfect for kiddos that like to run! Wide open, with gorgeous backdrops behind them these spaces offer the perfect blend of a larger scenic type photo, as well as fun, candid images of kids being kids!
Unusual Grasses - Kind of a hybrid of tall grassy fields and open grass space, this location has the coolest tufts of tall, textural grass. A great option for families and seniors, the grass adds a really neat dimension to photos.
The Beach - Any Orange County photography location list wouldn't be complete with the location we are famous for - our beautiful, blue ocean! A dreamy, ethereal location where the light is always beautiful, even when it's foggy out, the beach is one of my favorite locations to photograph in. The softness of the sand, the gentle waves of the ocean - just perfection. I love this for family, high school senior sessions, and even fine art couture sessions.
Dirt Pathways - While dirt and gravel may not seem like ideal spots for pictures, they are actually one of the most flattering and interesting of places for a photo session! The neutral tone of the dirt reflects back up towards your face, creating a beautiful, glowey (is that a word??) illumination that is so flattering for all skin tones. Add the textural element of the gravel, and you have a wonderful place to take photos!
Forest - From redwood to dried branches perfect for spooky images, forests are great for sessions in which you want a unique look to your images. They can transform to the feel of any image - cool for seniors, romantic for couples, fun for kids, and spooky for Halloween!
Urban - Perfect for those high school seniors that want an edgy, cool feel, urban sessions are a fun, unique space for photos. You have to be ok with the possibility of other people in your background (though I try to avoid this as much as possible), but the walls and spaces of urban areas add a really neat textural aspect to your photos.
Wildflowers - last, but certainly not least is my absolute favorite type of location. Occurring only once a year in March, these have to be the most beautiful, unique spot in Orange County. As an Orange County photographer, these are truly my happy place. While I love pretty much all the locations here, wildflowers hold a special place in my heart. There is something so magical seeing all the vibrant, beautiful blooms surrounding you :-). Perfect for fine art couture, high school senior and family sessions, these images will be sure to stay with you forever. Not all locations bloom every year, so contact me for availability of these locations!
